Periscope, is the new fastest growing app purchased by Twitter in February of
2015, and that everyone has been talking about since its official launch on March
26, 2015. The new live streaming video mobile app allows you to “go live” via your mobile device anytime and anywhere in the world. This is because its a video streaming broadcasting service from Twitter.

This application, like other social networks, allows you to follow different people while you can also have your own Periscope followers. Each time you create a broadcast or a "scope" like its know among the app users, your followers will receive a notification letting them know that you are doing a live scope. By accessing the broadcast, they can comment on it and tell you that they like it by sending "hearts" and once the broadcast ends, other users can still watch it and replay it, and even provide feedback, within Periscope for up to 24 hours. After that, the broadcast is removed from the app poofing into the ‘forever-gone’ of cyber-history.
What days are the most active on the app?
According to the statistics offered by its developers, the busiest days in this application are Friday evenings and Saturdays.
Who has been using Periscope?
The app has been attracting the attention of broadcasters and media companies, who have realized the advantages it has on reaching new audiences, reports the Daily Telegraph. But musicians are also using it, and even the UK's Prime Minister is a fan.
CNN's Max Foster also used of the app during his coverage of the birth of Princess Charlotte.
Meanwhile, the Rolling Stones used Periscope to broadcast their 'secret' show in LA in May. The Telegraph also says that more than 40 authors have done live broadcasts on Periscope, "showing fans where they write their books and often reading from currently unpublished work".
In
addition, many celebrities, bloggers and models are starting to use this social network
to show their followers how is their day to day. Some examples of famous
people who use it are Alexa Chung an English fashion model, television presenter, and contributing editor at British Vogue, the Spanish model Eugenia Silva and Gisele Bündchen, Brazilian fashion model, actress, producer and the best
paid model in the world.
And most recently have joined this social network brands such as
Calvin Klein, Victoria's Secret, Moschino and Versace among many, many others.
Does Periscope have competition?
Well let's just say there were similar apps before Periscope with the same "live streaming" characteristics and its not the only live-streaming app. Meerkat, for example, was also launched earlier last year, however, Twitter cut off Meerkat's access to its social media site when it announced the acquisition of Periscope.
Meerkat's objective is the same as that of Periscope: allow users to live stream any live event: However, its growth has been slower.
